Information
About the Application
IEC-60534-8-3 Noise Wizard is a professional web application for calculating noise curves of pressure regulators according to IEC standards.
Operating Modes
- Find Regulator: Retrofit and validation of noise curves for already installed regulators (validation)
- Buy Regulator: Automatic selection of the five best-matching regulators (recommendation)
Features
- IEC-compliant noise calculation with physically consistent curves
- Support for multiple gas types
- Detailed regulator specifications
- Noise calculation according to the standard, with and without silencer
- Warnings in Find Regulator mode indicate:
- operation outside the recommended operating range
- results are still calculated but not recommended for use
Database
- Gases: Natural Gas, Air, Hydrogen (100 %), Nitrogen, Butane, Propane, Propane-air mix*
- Regulator-specific coefficients and parameters
Calculation Method
The noise calculation is performed according to IEC standards and considers:
- Gas-dependent correction factors
- Ideal gas behavior
- Pressure difference and flow rate
- Valve and regulator coefficients (e.g. FL, DN)
- Turbulence effects depending on the flow regime
Curve Types
- IEC Curve: Theoretical noise calculation according to the IEC standard
Disclaimer
The calculated noise levels represent idealized conditions. In practical installations, deviations of up to ±5 dB(A) may occur.
Note
All noise levels are given in dB(A).
Noise levels are calculated according to IEC 60534-8-3 and refer to a reference distance of 1 m from the regulator center.
For increased distance, the sound pressure level is expected to decrease by approximately 3 dB(A) per meter, assuming free-field conditions.
